Just to clear up what might be misconceptions. There is a desktop unit called the Linio. The Linio is CD based and is the next generation of player based on the PTN2. It is marketed in Canada and the EU only since those government entities are the only providers who have implemented the DODP (DAISY Online Demand Protocol) for direct downloading without the PC. Plextalk North America is introducing the Linio Pocket, the version that has been marketed up to this point in Canada and the EU. The Linio Pocket is physically the same look and feel as the standard Pocket. It has an 8GB internal memory, clock, calendar, better TTS engine for clearer TTS speech, supports PDF in addition to current listed formats. Since no US provider has implemented DODP, this will not be available at this time. From 2006, we started field trials for online delivery by collaborating with local libraries in Japan, Sweden, U.K. and Australia in order to study the technical feasibility of online capable DAISY players. The experiences and expertise we acquired through those field trials was shared with the DAISY Online Working Group of the DAISY Consortium. The DAISY Online Delivery protocol was been adopted as the standard of the online delivery system in 2010. We believe the Linio, the world’s first DAISY Online compatible player, will provide you with new reading experiences.

Just to clear up what might be misconceptions.
There is a desktop unit called the Linio. The Linio is CD based and is the next generation of player based on the PTN2. It is marketed in Canada and the EU only since those government entities are the only providers who have implemented the DODP (DAISY Online Demand Protocol) for direct downloading without the PC.
Plextalk North America is introducing the Linio Pocket, the version that has been marketed up to this point in Canada and the EU. The Linio Pocket is physically the same look and feel as the standard Pocket. It has an 8GB internal memory, clock, calendar, better TTS engine for clearer TTS speech, supports PDF in addition to current listed formats. Since no US provider has implemented DODP, this will not be available at this time.
Hope this makes it a bit clearer.

In the early 2000’s, we were foreseeing potential needs for online delivery of DAISY books to the visually impaired and print disabled. From 2006, we started field trials for online delivery by collaborating with local libraries in Japan, Sweden, U.K. and Australia in order to study the technical feasibility of online capable DAISY players. The experiences and expertise we acquired through those field trials was shared with the DAISY Online Working Group of the DAISY Consortium. The DAISY Online Delivery protocol was been adopted as the standard of the online delivery system in 2010. Just to clear up what might be misconceptions.
There is a desktop unit called the Linio. The Linio is CD based and is the next generation of player based on the PTN2. It is marketed in Canada and the EU only since those government entities are the only providers who have implemented the DODP (DAISY Online Demand Protocol) for direct downloading without the PC.
Plextalk North America is introducing the Linio Pocket, the version that has been marketed up to this point in Canada and the EU. The Linio Pocket is physically the same look and feel as the standard Pocket. It has an 8GB internal memory, clock, calendar, better TTS engine for clearer TTS speech, supports PDF in addition to current listed formats. Since no US provider has implemented DODP, this will not be available at this time.
Hope this makes it a bit clearer.

Just to clear up what might be misconceptions.
There is a desktop unit called the Linio. The Linio is CD based and is the next generation of player based on the PTN2. It is marketed in Canada and the EU only since those government entities are the only providers who have implemented the DODP (DAISY Online Demand Protocol) for direct downloading without the PC.
Plextalk North America is introducing the Linio Pocket, the version that has been marketed up to this point in Canada and the EU. The Linio Pocket is physically the same look and feel as the standard Pocket. It has an 8GB internal memory, clock, calendar, better TTS engine for clearer TTS speech, supports PDF in addition to current listed formats. Since no US provider has implemented DODP, this will not be available at this time.
Hope this makes it a bit clearer.

PLEXTALK and DAISY Online
In the early 2000’s, we were foreseeing potential needs for online delivery of DAISY books to the visually impaired and print disabled. From 2006, we started field trials for online delivery by collaborating with local libraries in Japan, Sweden, U.K. and Australia in order to study the technical feasibility of online capable DAISY players. The experiences and expertise we acquired through those field trials was shared with the DAISY Online Working Group of the DAISY Consortium. The DAISY Online Delivery protocol was been adopted as the standard of the online delivery system in 2010. We believe the Linio, the world’s first DAISY Online compatible player, will provide you with new reading experiences.
