In the UK, a phono plug is something completely different. A phono plug just does one channel, so for every input or output you need two phono plugs. Sometimes they are known as RCA phono plugs, as they were originally used to connect a turntable to an amplifier, using a plug for the left channel and a plug for the right. Most tape decks have four of these, two for input and two for output. Peter
