Network Folder won't work
I've just tried to use the network folder function on this new Win 7 machine and it won't work. It just can't find the Plextalk device at all. This always works perfectly on my old Win XP machine and I haven't changed anything. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks. Roger
Hi, It is probably a Windows Firewall issue, have you checked whether file and printer sharing is allowed through the firewall? Perhaps this will help: Launch a network security setting dialog application. This setting is only required for Windows 7 and Vista users. To set up network security, you need to assign an Administrator account. Windows 7 or Vista OS will notify you to allow our software to access system area settings. Pleas select “Yes” to continue the setting. -----Original Message----- From: Roger Stewart Sent: Wednesday, May 23, 2012 5:41 PM To: ptr1- users Subject: [Plextalk] Network Folder won't work I've just tried to use the network folder function on this new Win 7 machine and it won't work. Russ is correct. If you have not done so, download the Plextalk Transfer for Pocket Software from Plextalk.com . Run the PLEXTALK Transfer for Pocket. After the main screen appears, select "Network Configuration" from "Network" menu. . Select the "Local Security Setting" tab of "PLEXTALK setting utility" dialog box. . Press the "Start security setting" button. The "Local Security Setting" dialog box will appear. . Select "Send NTLM response only". Press the OK button. . You will see a confirmation message box. Press "OK" to confirm. . You need to restart your computer to make your computer apply this new security setting. The Utility will ask you confirm to restart your computer. Press "Yes" to restart. Hope this helps. -----Original Message----- From: plextalk-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org [mailto:plextalk-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Russ Kiehne Sent: Thursday, May 24, 2012 6:43 AM To: Plextalk User Discussion List Subject: Re: [Plextalk] Network Folder won't work Perhaps this will help: Launch a network security setting dialog application. Well, I just did all that and still no luck. The Plex Transfer software won't see my Plextalk and the direct shortcut I have which worked just fine in Win XP won't see it either. I did that thing about network settings and restarted but just no luck. Maybe this isn't quite ready to be used on Win 7 or something unless someone has other ideas. Thanks. Hi, I still believe the firewall may be blocking the incoming communication to the PC. Have you tried temporairily turning it off to confirm? Andrew. -----Original Message----- From: plextalk-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org [mailto:plextalk-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Roger Stewart Sent: 24 May 2012 21:40 To: Plextalk User Discussion List Subject: Re: [Plextalk] Network Folder won't work Well, I just did all that and still no luck.
