Re: [Plextalk] getting web radio to work on my pocket
You're asking a question that I want to know. I would love to do web radio on my plex pocket. I heard a pod cast on this, but it was long and drawn-out. Is there a few simple things to know and to do? ----- Original Message ----- From: Adrien Collins <adriencollins22160@gmail.com> To: "'Plextalk User Discussion List'" plextalk@lists.hodgsonfamily.org Date: Wednesday, January 30, 2013 10:52 am Subject: [Plextalk] getting web radio to work on my pocket
Hi
I tried to get the pocket to play web radio last night, I couldn't work it out, how do I get more stations on the player?

Well I think you have to use the plextalk transfer software. You then find the link of the radio station you want and it will give you a space to right the name as well as to enter the url. you can just copy and paste the url if you have one. It will then detect the link and the radio station will be under your web radio catagory. Ok, I have the bookport but I guess its similar if not the same so someone can correct me if I'm incorrect but I think that is how it works. On 1/30/13, Penny Golden <goldpen@frontiernet.net> wrote:

You have to first choose new radio feed first and then that dialogue box will come up. On 1/30/13, emma goodwin <emma.sleeptalk@gmail.com> wrote:

Actually, you don't need the transfer software to place web radio stations on the pocket. You simply copy a file to the plexwebradio folder. Or in my case, I have a folder for each type of feed. Example, acb radio, blinky tv, etc. -----Original Message----- From: emma goodwin Sent: Wednesday, January 30, 2013 9:44 AM To: Plextalk User Discussion List Subject: Re: [Plextalk] getting web radio to work on my pocket Well I think you have to use the plextalk transfer software.

I should also mention, however, that other stations with an apparently correct format such as .pls exhibit this wait-forever problem. From Russ's zip file: DW Radio; Voice Of russia, and several US stations. Also from my own list, theGlobalVoice - www.theglobalvoice.info> which is another blindness radio station. Oh yeah, ACB Radio have made recent changes, so their streams need consequently to be updated by the PT user listenerss. Hi Flor, I had them working a number of months ago but haven't tried them recently. If you want to try it, I've given a link below for a compressed file with around 17 feeds, including a number of the BBC ones. Hi Flor/All, Just to add to Pele's excellent post: UK national stations are still available in high quality WM streaming. Here is an example URL for Radio 4: http://bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r4.asx For other stations, replace with r2 for Radio 2, r5l for Radio 5 live, r4x for Radio 4 extra and so-on. Local stations also work as in bbccornwall. Then use Pele's method for saving the .ASX file and copy to the Pocket. HTH, Peter At 00:56 31/01/2013, you wrote:

You then find the link of the radio station you want and it will give you a space to right the name as well as to enter the url. you can just copy and paste the url if you have one. It will then detect the link and the radio station will be under your web radio catagory. Ok, I have the bookport but I guess its similar if not the same so someone can correct me if I'm incorrect but I think that is how it works.

Hmm, ok, I guess if that works but the plextalk transfer software is another option I guess lol. I guess both ways work On 1/30/13, Russ Kiehne <russ94577@gmail.com> wrote:

Rus you rite, but if one get stations wich is not zipt up like those wich are on plextalk website, then they need to copy the URL in the rite box in the new radio station dialog as emma said. If you have the ptp1 connected or the card in a card reader, and there wasn't any radio folder created, then as soon as you open the software it will create folders for you. So after you copyed the URL and typed the name for the station, then you will see when you brouze the pc that in the card the plex web radio folder are there and inside it, is the station you aded. Make sure its pls or other supported format. On 30/01/2013, Russ Kiehne <russ94577@gmail.com> wrote:

In most cases, all you have to do is, download the PLS, M3U, ASX from the streaming site. This is how I got many of my streams added to my pocket. -----Original Message----- From: Aidan Maher Sent: Wednesday, January 30, 2013 9:56 AM To: Plextalk User Discussion List Subject: Re: [Plextalk] getting web radio to work on my pocket Rus you rite, but if one get stations wich is not zipt up like those wich are on plextalk website, then they need to copy the URL in the rite box in the new radio station dialog as emma said. Hi Everyone As far as I can see noone has told Adrien how to get new stations from the internet. There are a number of sites that contain huge numbers of radio stations. www.radiofeeds.com and www.blindradio.co.uk are pretty good. Once you have found the required station in the list of stations, instead of pressing Enter on the link, rightclick or press the Context Menu key and go down to "Save Target As". Press Enter and this should save it to your machine. You can then copy this downloaded file to the Plexwebradio folder on the SD card for your Plextalk. I have a number of subfolders in Plexwebradio for different types of station. Pele West
For UK & irish radio stations, one can visit http://radiofeeds.co.uk >. The radiofeeds.com site domain is apparently for sale. It's also pushing the ALot toolbar. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pele West" <pele.west@west-home.co.uk> To: "Plextalk User Discussion List" <plextalk@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Thursday, January 31, 2013 12:18 PM Subject: Re: [Plextalk] getting web radio to work on my pocket

Hi jamie, I got Radio Scotland to play. ((i haven't added in the other national regional stations yet.) However, I could not get the BBC Radio United Kingdom-wide stations to play. Now, I ought to clarify a few related things. I can get the BBC Windows Media Player .asx streams from http://radiofeeds.co.uk to play on my PC; but when i transfer them - the URL's a re correct - to the Plextalk Pocket, they won't play there. (I tried again, with BBC Radio 2; it plays in WMP on my PC, but on the plextalk Pocket it says "URL is not available".

Everyone is different, in so far as they may have different sources for their files which they may wish to bring into the Pocket. Windows Explorer can more easily reach deeper-level subfolders of My Documents than Plextalk. However, the transfer does work well enough and is good to get familiar with. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pamela Dominguez" <geodom@optonline.net> To: "Plextalk User Discussion List" <plextalk@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Wednesday, January 30, 2013 10:33 PM Subject: Re: [Plextalk] getting web radio to work on my pocket

Hi Adrien You can get most internet stations in most places. I believe you can get all the BBC stations in France, although some live broadcasts are limited to UK and the station broadcasts a message telling you you do not have access. Really annoying for sporting events. Pele
Hi Pele Yes I know, I like gold, I went on their website but can't stream it here , I am blocked from it. Adrien, For PC use: Type in a UK postcode when requested. I think that'll probably get you around the block on Gold. Another (perhaps more enhancing) solution is to use a radio Player like RadioSure, or TapinRadio, both free, which may be downloaded through www.whitestick.co.uk >. (if TapinRadio's not there, you can get that free from www.tapinradio.com ). No block on gold with either of them, as yet. Fortunmately, above and beyond that, i have a satellite receiver. Gold is one of the radio stations on the EPG: as well as of course the BBC radio stations, World Radio network, Absolute, etc. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Adrien Collins" <adriencollins22160@gmail.com> To: "'Plextalk User Discussion List'" <plextalk@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Friday, February 01, 2013 8:37 PM Subject: Re: [Plextalk] getting web radio to work on my pocket

Now, I have found out that the reason I can't get the BBC UK-wide stations to play on the Plextalk Pocket may have to do with some proxy server stuff. (I tried doing the same thing on my laptop, WiFi. it likewise won't play these Windows media Player streams, and returns a network error and possible causes such as a proxy server, blah blah. It may even be DRM, for all I know. This laptop will play the BBC nationals from the iPlayer radio. many other Uk stations are not at all affected, including the world Service streams. I know that UK residents have no proble with all of the BBC streams. Any takers outside the UK, willing to give their Plextalk a run with them? I also have a file chock-full of ABC.Net.AU (from australia) WMP and winamp streams - and information concerning them - that, likewise, will not work over WiFi in the Plextalk (outside Oz). If anybody would like to give them a go, email me and I'll send it your way. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Flor Lynch" <florlync@iol.ie> To: "Plextalk User Discussion List" <plextalk@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Saturday, February 02, 2013 1:05 PM Subject: Re: [Plextalk] Web Radio

Under menu, you will find an option called system. Press menu and then your left arrow key on the circle. Once in system, you will press until you hear network settings and then enter on that with the centre button on your circle. The centre button is ok. I hope that helps. Hi Pam, Emma was talking about the Play/Stop button and the surrounding keys on the Pocket. She was pointing you to the menu on the Pocket where you can manually input the information about the WiFi connection you want to connect to. Basically, you can either do this using the supplied software, called "Plextalk Transfer", or you can enter the information manually on the Pocket itself. Which method you choose to use is entirely a personal choice. If you want to use the software, you first need to install it and then find it on your menu system to launch it. It's been a long time since I used the software so I'll have to pass on the details of how to upload the details of a WiFi connection. Hope this helps, Jamie -----Original Message----- From: Plextalk [mailto:plextalk-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Pamela Dominguez Sent: 03 February 2013 17:12 To: Plextalk User Discussion List Subject: Re: [Plextalk] Web Radio What are you talking about the circle?
