Hi. Could someone give me the steps on how to put web radio on the Plextalk Player? I found it hard to do when following directions in the manual. Thanks and take care.
Hi, have you your WiFi or your Network enabled on the plexTalk? that's half the battle won, if you have. Let us know if you have or not, and then somebody on the list can instruct you further. There are (at least) two ways of inputting Web Radio stations. One is by using the PlexTalk Transfer software; the other, by copying and then pasting streaming URL's into the PlexWeb Radio folder of the plexTalk drive, through Windows Explorer. ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Christie" <christie12@verizon.net> To: "John Christie" <plextalk@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Thursday, May 22, 2014 11:23 PM Subject: [Plextalk] web radio on the Plextalk Player

Hi Clifford. I followed your directions which were excellent and to the point. However, when I pressed the enter key to attempt to listen to the stream, I either got the message unsupported audio stream or when I arrowed to another station to try to listen to the stream I didn't get any message. I'm going to look at the manual to see what it says about web radio on the Plextalk. I also want to thank another list member for giving me plexwebradio.zip. I tried it after downloading it and it worked fine. I want to thank everyone for all there help. If anyone else has any ideas regarding listening to internet radio stations on the Plextalk feel free to share them on the list. -----Original Message----- From: Plextalk [mailto:plextalk-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Clifford Blackwell Sent: Saturday, May 24, 2014 10:00 AM To: Plextalk User Discussion List Subject: Re: [Plextalk] web radio on the Plextalk Player What I was trying to describe was on the Plextalk, not the computer. Hmmm. Is the extension for the stream you want to listen to either .mp3, .pls or .asp? Those are the only formats which the Plextalk supports. Occasionally, there are streams even in these formats that simply won't play. If you can share the url of the file you're having trouble with, we might be able to help figure it out. As for not being able to arrow between radio stations, if you unsuccessfully try a station, you likely need to hit the title key again to move to another station in the Web Radio folder. Good luck. ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Christie" <christie12@verizon.net> To: "'Plextalk User Discussion List'" <plextalk@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Saturday, May 24, 2014 11:49 AM Subject: Re: [Plextalk] web radio on the Plextalk Player

These are the two keys just to the right of the navigation keys in the upper middle of the Plextalk. ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Christie" <christie12@verizon.net> To: "'Plextalk User Discussion List'" <plextalk@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Friday, May 23, 2014 10:06 PM Subject: Re: [Plextalk] web radio on the Plextalk Player

The first question is do you have a list of radio station urls or know how to find the station url? Once you have the url for the station's play link, you can either us the Plextalk Transfer software or you can copy and paste the url into the Plextalk radio folder on your Plextalk through Windows Explorer.
To use the Plextalk Transfer software, bring the program up on your computer after connecting the Plextalk to the computer.
From the type of file control, select radio station. Then open the file menu and arrow down to Add Radio Station and hit enter. Complete the form with the station url. It may ask you to name the file also.
As noted above, you can copy and paste a station url from your computer to the Plextalk's Plextalk radio folder. This is done as you would copy and paste any file.
Once you have one or more station urls in your Plextalk radio folder, select Web radio from the Plextalk Web Radio tab and navigate through the list of stations with the right and left arrow keys. Assuming you're connected to the internet, the Plexttalk will find the station and start playing it. If you're not already connected, the Plextalk with tell you that it's connecting and will play the selected station when you do connect.
Hope this helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Christie" <christie12@verizon.net> To: "'Plextalk User Discussion List'" <plextalk@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Friday, May 23, 2014 6:35 PM Subject: Re: [Plextalk] web radio on the Plextalk Player

Hi,
have you your WiFi or your Network enabled on the plexTalk? that's half the battle won, if you have.

Hello John, It looks to me as if these are not the url for the station streams, but rather are links to imbedded players on the station or the web site. You will likely need to do some digging around on their web pages to see if they give the url for their streams or write them at their contact email to see if they can provide you with them. The list that Russ provided is a great resource for stream urls for a variety of different stations. Sometimes sites like Tune In or Mike's radio world or sparks.org will give the stream url instead of a station one. I'll keep these links and will later see if I can find the stream url. As for deleting radio stations, connect your Plextalk through the usb cable and access the Plextalk as you would any other external device/drive. Navigate to the Web Radio folder, open it and then find the station you want to delete and delete it as you would any filed.

In general, do not use links that include 'player' in them to paste into the PlexTalk for radio stations. (TuneIn and the like have their own embedded players/browsers to play for their own links.) Instead, use a program or app like RadioSure or TapinRadio, or even Winamp, or Windows media Player, to find streaming URLs' direct links, and try the working streams out on the PlexTalk. ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Christie" <christie12@verizon.net> To: "'Plextalk User Discussion List'" <plextalk@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Sunday, May 25, 2014 6:54 PM Subject: Re: [Plextalk] web radio on the Plextalk Player

Hello John,
It looks to me as if these are not the url for the station streams, but rather are links to imbedded players on the station or the web site.
Good luck Clifford ----- Original Message -----

What I was trying to describe was on the Plextalk, not the computer. To get to the Web Radio selection on the Plextalk, hit the title key and right or left arrow until you hear Web Radio hit the enter key and you can then navigate through your list of radio stations using the right and left arrow keys.
The title key is the second key down on the right side just below the menu key.

John, Didn't have much luck poking around. WMEX looks like it might be a Real Audio stream which won't play on the Plextalk. I couldn't find stream info for WBZ, but if you email them, I bet they'll send you the url for their stream. The other stations, were played using an imbedded player and I couldn't get enough info to hunt them down in the time I had. Use the .zip file that Russ provided you and there are tons of good streams on there. Again to find the stream for a particular radio station, start with the station's web site. Sometimes they post that infomation on a technical specs page. I've also found that emailing them generally gets me the info I need. Sometimes, if the station's part of a larger station group such as I Heart Radio, they don't make their streams available for individual listening outside of their players. Sorry I couldn't be of more help with your particular stations. Good luck listening. I very much enjoy my Plextalk and its radio capabilities. I do wish that it could handle a greater variety of stream types though. Here is plexwebradio.zip. After you download it, copy the plexwebradio folder to the root of your sd card and there are 200 stations to get you started. http://www.sendspace.com/file/pjwz4z On 5/23/2014 8:06 PM, John Christie wrote:

Perform these steps on a computer. Create A folder called "PlexWebradio" at the root of the SD card or USB device. Locate the link or URL to play the radio station. Right click or press the Applications key on the link to play the station. Save the playlist file in the "PlexWebradio" folder. Give the file a name that identifies the radio station. When you have saved the playlist file of all the stations you want, safely stop the SD card or USB device. Connect the SD card or USB device to the Plextalk Pocket. The URL should have the extension "pls", "m3u", or "asx". I copied the following from the Plextalk version 6 manual. 20.2. Listening to web radio To listen to web radio, it is necessary to connect the PLEXTALK to the Internet first. Note: Refer to the Section 18, "Network settings", for configuring and enabling network settings. To listen to web radio, do the following: .Insert the media containing playlist files. .Press the Left or Right key to select your favorite Web radio station. Press the Play/Stop key to start streaming. Note: There are no functions of fast-forward, fast-rewind, or level navigation for playing web radio stations. Note: You cannot add bookmarks for web radio. After listening to other stations or changing media, you cannot resume playback from where you stopped. Note: Refer to the playable web radio format of Appendix A "Main Specifications". -----Original Message----- From: Plextalk [mailto:plextalk-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of John Christie Sent: Friday, May 23, 2014 7:35 PM To: 'Plextalk User Discussion List' Subject: Re: [Plextalk] web radio on the Plextalk Player Could someone on the list tell me how to get web radio on the Plextalk Player I already have wifi enabled.
