Re: [Plextalk] question about my pocket
Hi Jamie Ok thanks, yes I worked out how to use the 5 function but I think having a battery fully charged message would be useful. The navigation is something I have never played with although have seen it when trying to find my way around the plextalk. Just one more question, is there a better case than the one that plextalk supply, I find it annoying having to take my player out of the case to charge it up, I prefer to keep them in their cases in case I drop them. To move back or forward 30 minute chunks in your book, the easiest way is to select the 10 minute jump option from the Navigation Menu and then just press the Back or Forward keys 3 times. If you use the Up and Down keys when you are playing the book, you should get the 10 minute option along with a 30 second option and various other options for ways to navigate your book. 2. Check the battery level by pressing the No5 key (the one with the small bump on it). Your Pocket will announce various information but starting with the battery level. If you don't want to listen to all the rest of the information, just press the Play/Stop button. Also, make sure the unit is not connected to the mains at the time as it will just tell you that the battery is charging and won't give an indication of the current level f charge. Hope this helps, Jamie From: Plextalk [mailto:plextalk-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Adrien Collins Sent: 19 November 2012 15:31 To: 'Plextalk User Discussion List' Subject: Re: [Plextalk] question about my pocket Hi Tom Yes that's ok but mum says it looks like a docking station. Ok I have another question, I have been playing a book over the weekend, is there any way to jump back and forwards say 30 minutes at a time? If I want to go back I have to hold the left and right arrow and leave it until I get to perhaps 20 minutes, this can be a bit tedious. Also is there any way of knowing if the battery is fully charged? It is my guess that it is to allow air to circulate in the battery compartment, in case it gets warm during recharge. Hi Adrian, To be honest, getting to know how to use the Navigation Menu when you are in a book or other item is vital to you being able to get the most out of any DAISY player. Below I have copied a section from the User Guide that you might find helpful. Regarding your question about the case, I think there are other cases but personally I think that it is a deliberate move by Plextor that you cannot plug in your power when it is in the case. I think this is to reduce the risk of the unit over heating during the charging process. Anyway, here comes the text from the User Guide about using the Navigation Menu: 10.7. Accessing the Navigation menu. One of the most useful features of PLEXTALK is the ability to choose how you want to navigate. This is done by using the Navigation Menu which is available to you at any time unless you are already in the Main Menu system. To use the Navigation Menu, do the following: * Assuming that you are not recording or in the Main Menu system, use the Up or Down keys to move upwards or downwards. The items you hear spoken are the options available to you from the Navigation Menu at that time. * The available options will vary depending on what kind of contents you are using and the structure of the data. For example, on a DAISY titles, if the book does not have pages coded into it, the "Page" option will not appear on the Navigation Menu. On an Audio Files, if there is only one album, there will be no "Album" option on the Navigation Menu. In essence, PLEXTALK will only offer you navigation options that are appropriate to you at that time. * Having selected your preferred navigation method, you can now use your Left or Right key to move backwards or forwards at your chosen level of navigation. For example, when using the built in User's Guide, if you go to the "Level 1" option with your Up or Down key, and then use your Left or Right key, you will be able to move backwards or forwards to the next Level 1 heading. Note: The default navigation level for DAISY titles is "Level 1", for Audio File is "Track" and for Text File is "Paragraph". Currently selected navigation levels are not saved when you shut down PLEXTALK. Note: If you do not know what navigation is available to you in a particular item, use the Up or Down key to quickly find out.
