Hello, First, is the Linio sold in the U.S. the same as the Linio sold everywhere else in the world? If not, what different firmware does it use, if any? Will it work with NLS BARD books? Jonathan
Hi Jonathan, The US version is the same hardware. The main difference in firmware is that the Linio in the US does not support Braille format and the Daisy Online Demand Protocol is not functional as there are no US content providers implementing the technology. The unit does support NLS and Learning Ally. Hi, in addition to Bob's info: You can't replace an American unit with European firmware. Some years ago I bought an American unit of the PTP1 in Germany from an American user. Appart from the different powerplug (this unit haven't an European plug) I couldn't install the German firmware on this device. It's no matter as far as you only listen to audio books. But if you plan to read i. e. epub files, you only can read it with the buildin English voice. Yours sincerely Arno
Thank you for your response. So, what is the latest version of the firmware for the Linio sold in the U.S. and where can it be found? Also, I don't see the Linio as one of the devices supported on the list from BARD. Is it still being evaluated by NLS? Jonathan At 09:59 AM 1/4/2016, you wrote:

Hi Jonathan, The US version was released with the latest US firmware. It will detect and prompt the user to install a newer version when that version is posted. The unit will download and install the version if the prompt is accepted. NLS has not updated their site. Registration and key installation is the same as the standard Pocket. -----Original Message----- From: Plextalk [mailto:plextalk-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Jonathan P. Hello Mr. Smith, Currently, I do not have wireless here so the Linio isn't going to be able to detect much of anything. I would need to download the firmware manually. As for NLS, unfortunately, because NLS is slow in updating its list of approved players, I am not able to get a key for my Linio. Is there any way around this? Hi Jonathan, There hasn't been any new firmware releases for the Linio, so no problem. As far as the NLS goes, register as a Plextalk PTP1 but put in the serial number of your Linio. We'll take it from there. We can send it on an SD card for you since you don't have wireless. -----Original Message----- From: Plextalk [mailto:plextalk-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Jonathan P.
