Hi all, Our current Call Manager 4.x servers are creaking under their age, and we are looking at replacing this either with a new Cisco telephony system or a completely new system altogether. The system has to use IP as the connection to the handsets, as we don't want to add in more cables. Has anyone any experience in deploying a new Call manager setup, or a similar telephony system, and how was the accessibility? Thanks. Andrew.

let's talk Backup Exec

Hey everyone: I just got a promotion at work, and with the goodness of a promotion comes more responsibilities. I'm now in charge of our backup infrastructure. We run Backup Exec 12.5, and have 16 or so media servers in various branch offices around the world. While Backup Exec used to be very accessible, over the last two versions accessibility seems to have gone into something of a decline, I already use scripts just to read the main table of jobs, and might need more just to get around the scheduling window so I can actually schedule a job. I'd consider the rest of the program accessible but clunky, tabbing doesn't always bring you where you think it will, on some screens tab order seems to be dynamic. Backup Exec also has an odd way of bringing up alert windows and grabbing your focus, even when you tell it specifically not to. While clunkyness is OK on one server, when you have fifteen individual servers to manage and no way to do it in a centralized fashion clunkyness is less acceptable. This is also less than a quarter of my new responsibilities as well. The current admin has the remote desktop console setup with all the Backup Exec servers in his favorites, stays logged into each server with a Backup Exec window open, and flicks from screen to screen and can easily glance at the output from each job. For us screen reader users, that doesn't work well. I've already got e-mail alerts set up and am using some Outlook rules to sort failure jobs out from successes, but was wondering if there's anything else I can be doing? I'd think people in really large environments with hundreds of media servers aren't logging into each server on a daily basis, so there has to be better ways to handle this. Any ideas? Thanks. Ryan

Hello, Does anyone have any free AV recommendations? I posted on this last week and got suggestions that were out of my range. I've tried Avast5, and the only reason it's still on is because i don't have anything else. I am not impressed with it, it's interface is in my opinion a step backward, it doesn't have any of the features 4 did, and system stability has taken a major nose dive since I installed it. Thanks. Is VMWare lab manager accessible?

The subject says it all. I'd like to use VMWare lab manager instead of VMWare workstation for some of my virtual machines to make sharing them easier, as well as having the backups automated by our corporate IT department. Is lab manager accessible with Jaws or any other screen reading software?

David I've taken several classes from them and haven't had a problem. Just like any other classroom setting, you need to communcate your needs to the instructor, and most will be willing to help. Each office is different in how their lab setups work, so I can't tell you what to expect. Just do your homework, know your screen reader and perhaps have a quick play with the UI for what yu're learning and go for it. Win 7; installing drivers with no audio

Hey all. I've just done a windows 7 professional install and the audio drivers haven't been found. A sighted person walked me through the mini setup where you choos the computer name and set up a user account, but they couldn't stay long enough to install any drivers. On xp, this is easy enough since you can just type the full path in run and more or less keep on hitting enter until you here sounds or your machine reboots. However, I'm guessing that uac is going to thro a spanner in the works here since I'm pretty sure that the default option on the uac window isn't going to be yes. To be honest, I'm not even sure I'm in run after pressing windows + r; I typed some random letters to try and make a beep sound which didn't work; I also tried to go into cmd and type control g which is also meant to generate a beep but both these tests failed. Having said this, I was able to type the shutdown command in what I thought was the run box and it shut down, so perhaps things aren't as bad as they seem. Does anyone have any experience installing drivers in this situation? Since you're meant to install chipset before audio I'd be looking at 1 install with no feedback plus half of another one, assuming that sound starts to work half way through the install as it does with some xp drivers. I'm just stabbing in the dark here, but if I assume that ethernet has been found, would I be able to put this on my network and use psexec to install the drivers that way? This didn't work in xp since the admin shares aren't enabled by default, but perhaps it's different for 7? Any thoughts what so ever are welcome. Cheers, Ben.

Hello all, I cannot get this server to communicate with my home network. ipconfig /renew returns a message saying "The operation failed as no adapter is in a state permissible for this operation". The device is flagged as "Working properly". Some guidance would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance, Stewart.

Off the top of my head, are you sure that you've used the right drivers? I've had some cards that have installed with a driverpacks.net modded os install, but infact, the driver hasn't always been the best for the device and in some situations it hasn't functioned at all. Failing that, perhaps it would be easier to just stick a pci eth card in there? Hi everyone, I am taking a Grad school class in Data Mining and the instructor wants all work done on Unix based machines and of course we know how Jaws and Unix does together. Does anyone have any ideas of a screen reader that would work with Unix? Thanks, Greg B.

IMac Help

Hello, Do we have any Mac users on this list? Specifically an IMac running OS 10.x and that's all I know. I know it comes with Voice over, but it's not got sound, not sure why, and not hooking up to the internet. I believe from what little i've gathered that it was hooked up to a dialup connection. I need to get sound, voice over, and internet, and I know nothing about Macs, just pc's. Any help appreciated. Thanks. Dave.

This is a frequently asked question on linux lists. It usually generates quite a bit of debate because the military doesn't usually tell people what they can do so you can only speculate on what it would take to destroy the data so that even the military can't recover it. Certainly, if you destroy the platter physically by doing something like hitting it with a hammer, that should do it. But most people believe that just wiping the disk a dozen or so times will do it. You can do that with the dd command lie this: Dd if=/dev/random of=/dev/sda Thats if your disk is a sata drive. For IDE drives, the command would be: Dd if=/dev/random of=/dev/had Those commands write random digits over the entire drive, wiping out the boot sector, partition table, and all data. does anyone know how to share a wireless connection with ethernet on Windows

Hi, Is it possible to take a wireless WiFi connection under windows XP Pro and share it with the included ethernet port? Never done this on windows. Any ideas how to set up a nat type thing? Thanks Scott
