win10 machines not playing nice with each other
Hello, I've got a network with several win10 machines on it. One all can get to and pull shared files. Two others are not sharing, the shares are visible, under thieir computer names, but when I go to them I get an error user is not authorized. Permissions on the shared folders are to allow everyone full access, that's under the sharing tab as well as the security tab of the folders in question. I am not using home groups and all of the machines are in the same workgroup. If I had a Pi I would look at setting up a domain. Any help appreciated. Thanks. Dave.
What firewall are u using? I've seen 3rd party firewalls actually change the names of network shares. Also, check your router's firewall as well if applicable. On 3/22/17, David Mehler <dave.mehler@gmail.com> wrote:

Hi, Thanks. All of the win10 machines are on the same network and don't use any other firewall other than the windows firewall. They can all see each other, just not share. Thanks. Dave. On 3/22/17, Jackie McBride <abletec@gmail.com> wrote:

I usually like to stop by Network and sharing center, Change advanced sharing settings and just double check everything over there. Turn on Network discovery Turn on file and printer sharing Double check settings under "all networks" Maybe try to turn off windows firewall and see if things get better. -----Original Message----- From: Blind-sysadmins [mailto:blind-sysadmins-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of David Mehler Sent: Wednesday, March 22, 2017 8:38 AM To: blind-sysadmins <blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Subject: [Blind-sysadmins] win10 machines not playing nice with each other Hello, I've got a network with several win10 machines on it. All networks setting is located in advanced sharing settings just tab around and you will hear "All networks" press space on it and it will expend for more settings. There is not much over there, just several additional settings. Probably has nothing to do with your case. Sorry, there is not much else I can suggest. I believe I do let sharing permissions green light all the way, and then control everything else by NTFS permissions but that's sounds like what you have with your setup. As well. I usually like to stop by Network and sharing center, Change advanced sharing settings and just double check everything over there.
Turn on Network discovery Turn on file and printer sharing
Double check settings under "all networks"
Maybe try to turn off windows firewall and see if things get better.

Hello,
I've got a network with several win10 machines on it.
Thanks. Dave.

Hi, How does one change the network type from private to public? I just realized that these machines have different network types, and I don't know if that's related but something to check out. Thanks. Dave. On 3/22/17, Anatoliy Shudrya <anatoliyshudrya@hotmail.com> wrote:
All networks setting is located in advanced sharing settings just tab around and you will hear "All networks" press space on it and it will expend for more settings. There is not much over there, just several additional settings. Probably has nothing to do with your case.
Sorry, there is not much else I can suggest.
I believe I do let sharing permissions green light all the way, and then control everything else by NTFS permissions but that's sounds like what you have with your setup. As well.
Anatoliy

Hi,
File and printer sharing and network discovery are both on.
How do you get to the all networks settings?
Thanks. Dave.
