Hello, I've got several old hard drives that I'm now wanting to get rid of. I need to securely wipe them. They connect to my computer via USB enclosure. I know about boot and nuke, but to the best of my knowledge and i'd love to be wrong, that doesn't work with access technology. Recommendations appreciated. I'm using windows 10 with NVDA 2017.4 and jaws 18. Thanks. Dave.

Accessible Disk-Checking Software

I don't care what operating system it's on, I simply need an accessible disk-checker, something to which I can give a disk and have it checked for errors--bad sectors, you name it. If it can securely erase a disk, too, that's a plus, but for that, ERASER is OK by me. Thanks in advance.

Hello, Is anyone using teraterm on windows ssh to connect via public key authentication to an openssh server? If so, what did you have to do to get the key authentication working? The openssh doesn't appear to like the teraterm public key. Thanks. Dave.

Microsoft released patches to mitigate the meltdown threat and will soon release microcode updates to fix spectre, so there will be no need to manually go into the BIOS which is of course very difficult and time consuming to perform on a large network. Intel are apparently making the microcode available to Microsoft and this will be able to update the processors because of a couple of DLL files within windows which make this possible. Curretnly there are no threats out in the wild and even if there was its not very likely that individuals would be at threat. I think waiting for Microsoft to make these patches available is the best option, although it sounds like they might not come through windows update so you would have to visit the catalogue and download them manually then distribute them through your network.
