issue with a former raid drive

Hello, I've got a dimension 3100 Dell that has 2 SATA drives in it that use to be raided. Long story short the data recovery partition was removed or more likely not copied over when the drives were upgraded, so control+f11 won't work. I'm trying to get the drives to boot. It's like I'm dealing with two separate windows installs, one from each drive. The strange thing is if I connect either drive, or both I get an error about no boot device found. To get this machine to boot I have to put in a bootable OS install CD which asks me to hit a key to boot from it. If I don't and just let the boot sequence go through on it's own the drive boots, but it won't without the bootable disk. I am assuming that the drive is not bootable? This is definitely confusing and I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks. Dave.

recommendations for ssh client & jaws 13

I wonder if anyone has a recommendation for an ssh client that works well with jaws 13. I've been using openssh for Windows for years and it has served me well except for a couple of things. There has always been a problem in that jaws speaks the keys as you enter your password. Anybody nearby can hear your password. A problem with jaws 13 is that as you type something at the command prompt after connecting, jaws reads the entire line with each keystroke. Older versions of jaws didn't do that. There is probably some way to fix it but I don't know enough about jaws scripting to know. I tried putty but the jaws scripts I've found won't compile. I'm guessing they're not compatible with jaws 13. Any other suggestions? I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for

Hi, What do people think about JFW behaving worse on some websites now, especially those that use rich content like some administration websites? I didn't upgrade to IE9 for ages, because I couldn't use the Jaws cursor very much in IE9, and used it a lot on some company sites I needed to interact with a lot. I think the problem is that Jaws tries to cope with the rich elements of the site, whereas with older browsers, these didn't get handled as well, so we could use our own methods to work with the content we have. Discuss. Andrew.

Hello, Does anyone have an accessible windowsbased hard disk diagnostic program? I'm looking for something that I can install on to one box, plug in an external drive enclosure into, and diagnose the drive within, something like an accessible spinrite. Thanks. Dave.

Working in System BIOS

Does anyone have any tips on how to modify system bios settings with speech, or through some other means? Most all of our machines are some flavor of Dell Precision workstations. Specifically, I need to be able to set the boot priority so that I can boot from a USB device. ... Trying to setup a Windows 7 Unattended Install. Talking VMWare Linux and Windows images?

Hi, I am trying to find a way of running a virtual machine with Linux and also another one with Windows XP, but I couldn't find a stable solution until now. I need to run a guest Linux and Linux from my Windows XP, so dual booting or booting from a stick is not an option. A few years ago I tried a Vinux VMWare image, and I could use it for a very short time, then I don't know what happened, but it stopped talking and I couldn't make it work again, so I abandoned it because it was not stable enough. Now I tried a Vinux VMWare image again, and it started to talk some things but it stopped talking before the login prompt. I tried to shut it down, tried to boot it again for many times, I even deleted the VMWare configuration file and used a new unarchived image, but it doesn't want to talk absolutely anything. It is not a problem to install and use a Linux virtual machine by SSH (using VirtualBox), because I was able to do it very easy with Vagrant, but I am wondering if there is a way to also use a VM of Windows XP and Linux with a GUI desktop. Do you know if there are somewhere VMWare images of Windows XP that can be used easily by a blind, or for the moment there are no stable solutions for that. I said VMWare, but it can be any other VM environment like VirtualBox if it is accessible. Thanks. --Octavian
