I am happy to have stumbled across this list. I am looking for accessible remote control software. I don't have the ability to install Jaws on every computer I touch, so any help would be appreciated. I used Jaws and Window eyes for access. Thanks in advance, Greg Bobo

Accessible lan messaging client

Hey all. I'm looking for some accessible messaging client which supports comunication thru private network because i need it for comunication inside the company between the employers ... something like direct comunication from computer to computer. One option is to setup something like windows messsenger or skype but as i said, i would like to disable usage of comunication thru internet if possible. I know for one client called winmessenger which allows the user to see all the computers inside private network as well as chat comunication but it didn't show up to accessible so i'm looking for something similar. Any help would be apreciated. Thanks Mario

Vista ultimate/business downgrade rights/Generic SATA driver

Hello list, Has anyone ever used the vista downgrade rights before? How does that work? Also, I have a Toshiba laptop with vista business and I want to downgrade it to XP pro. Toshiba does not provide an XP sata installation driver. Is there a generic sata driver I can use so that the XP install will recognize the sata controller/hard drive? Thanks again, /David?

Hi. I just discovered this list, and am very glad of it too. I have been asking some of my jaws and sysadmin questions on the jfw mailing list without much success. A year ago, the job of windows sysadmin was dumped into my lap. I am trying to learn as I go without any formal training. I am the entire I.T department. I hope no one will mind if I ask a few of my current crop of questions. 1. has anyone used avg internet security network with either jaws,windoweyes or system access? 2. how accessible is Microsoft share point? 3. Is there a way to get jaws or windoweyes to say whether something under add/remove windows components is unchecked, partially or fully checked? 4. has anyone used an accessible pc inventory program? I have many more questions as I said before. At the moment, I am trying to find some place to get some training. What I have been able to learn is mostly from playing with a test server, and using google to find documents on the internet. Phil

USB sound device

Hi, Using a USB sound device is a grate way to ensure you have sound as early as possible in the install. It also works with many operating systems, the ones I have tended to go for are the c-media devices, because they just work out of the box, don't buy the Creative Labs ones as they try to do too much, and thus require further drivers. Unattended XP

Hi Folks, I've created several of these in the past. I'm getting a bit lost with Nero v7 though. When you get to the point when you copy your XP disc files to the ISO Panel? What ISO Panel? I've attached the file I've always worked from. I'm stuck at the section reading, " Locate the folder C:\XP\CD-ROOT Select everything in the folder and copy it to the ISO compilation panel." This is on page 4. The UI's changed that much in v5 I'm getting a bit lost. Anyone help or even poitn me to instructions on how to do this using Nero 7? A brief google yealded nothing useful. Hi, We have now got over 50 subscribers, so I just wanted to say again what this list is about etc. This list is for discussing all aspects of blind/vi people working in a system administration environment. Feel free to ask any questions, whether it is how other people in the list are doing a specific job, how to further your career, or to highlight a specific issue which you have seen which could be of interest to us. Try not to ask too many technical questions about a specific product, because in most cases, other lists specific to the product will do a lot better than this list. There are people in here from all walks of life, from Windows, Linux, other Unix variants, and Cisco networking. Feel free to ask any question, no matter if you believe it is stupid or not worth bothering with, after all, that is what the list is set up for! Of course, how to recover from the job of dealing with hundreds of "loosers" daily on a network, who have no doubt broken all the systems you have put in place, is also a good and fun topic!
