Darkice and Orca

I have a icecast2/darkice server set up to stream input on the line-in on the sound card. So the stream is playing whatever is coming into the line-in on the sound card. The problem is that if I start darkice before I log in, I can't get any audio. The darkice stream works fine, I get no sound on my computer speakers. So then I can't log in at the console because orca cannot speak. Even if I log in remotely, I can't play sound files. There is no error message, I just get nothing. If I kill darkice, then everything returns to normal. I can start orca at the login screen and log in. Then if I restart darkice, everything continues to work. In otherwords, if I start darkice before accessing the sound device as a regular user, darkice seems to take over the entire device, even output. If I access the sound card before I start darkice, everything is fine. It must be some kind of permissions problem but darned if I can figure out what. I'm running Ubuntu noble/24.04.

Hello, I'm being asked to investigate courses in Modern Endpoint Management. Does anyone know of any companies that are offering this that are accessible? Just want to make sure I don't need to use an inaccessible virtual machine. This is related to technologies such as Microsoft Intune. Hi all, Does anyone know if the new Remote Help add-on for Intune is accessible? I'm seeing in the release notes that it may at one point have passed audio from the remote machine, but they might have removed that feature. Unifi console

Hi, Does anyone have any tips for successfully getting around the unified network console? My issue seems to be in say, the list of networks (settings>networks), JFW sees it as a listbox, and turning of the virtual PC cursor etc doesn’t make any difference, and can’t read anything in it. NVDA sees it as a table but that table only has the first entry. It seems to be a view they like to use, as the list of WiFI networks is the same. I had a self-hosted controller also and that seems to be the same. I think the unified app is better, but I’d rather manage it via desktop. Thanks, Kieran

Win 11: Always getting a temp profile on this laptop

a Hi all, It's me again. This time i should get a new computer. At the moment i am working on a Win 10 desktop PC (HP ProDesk 600 G3 Microtower). This machine will be replaced with a HP ProBook 460 G11 laptop running Win 11. We are using roaming profiles. Admin users have no problem loggging into this machine. When i login with my current user i get the following error: We can't sign into your account" and 'You've been signed in with a temporary profile So we restarted 5 times. We completely wiped the machine. This didn't help either. I also created a brand new user and tried to login as well. The same issue occurs. Then we restarted 5 times again. Nothing. Has soneone had this problem as well? Our Domaincontroller is a Windows 2016 Server. Greetings and thanks, Simon

Hi all, As i wrote a few months ago, we plan to get a cisco pbx running virtually. Does someone know if cisco pbx can work with other sip equipment from other vendors? Or are there problems when you are using non cisco devices? Greetings and thanks, Simon
