Wel I had good results with other cd recorders when I record .CDA format on a data disk, and then play them in the newer standard players, but as you said, most players now handle alot of formats, and therefore, it should also work smoovely with data disks containing .CDA format. I just stil don't get how you can record in .CDA on a data disk on ptr2, maybe on other recorders yes. I struggle to believe that could be possible. Ptr2 will identify the type of blank disk you insert, and speak the relevant message. Therefore there is no option anywhere in the menus to switch between daisy 2.02 or .CDA. PlexTalk said they have done it in that way to support copy protection or whatever. If someone claim they can record .CDA on a data disk, and they are sure it is indeed a data disk, then give us steps that we mis somehow. On 13/10/2012, frank cuta <cuta@bentonrea.com> wrote:
Just to introduce some other thoughts on this matter. Jamie is correct. Unless your blank is a digital audio CD, not just a CDR you will not be able to play it on a standard CD music player. However, its getting harder and harder to find a "standard CD player."
When you record music on a standard CDR it creates either .wav or .mp3 files, they are just not at the root of the disk. It is actually pretty hard to find an off the shelf CD player now days that cannot play multiple formats including mp3. perhaps even deal with the daisy folder structure. I wonder if you are both right.

I don't know how you've done this unless you are talking about using a computer and just having the PTR2 as a dumb drive. In this instance, you may well have had success.
If you are simply recording direct onto a CD, it should have worked as I mentioned in the previous message.

Hi Aidan,
No, you are absolutely correct on this one.
For recording in DAISY format, standard CD-R or CD-RW discs will work absolutely fine but, if you want to record direct on to a disc in digital audio format (i.e. .CDA format) that can then be taken to be played on a standard CD player, the discs must be of the correct audio format in the first place.
Essentially, if you bung in a blank data CD, the PTR2 will default automatically to recording in DAISY format. If you insert a blank digital audio CD, PTR2 will recognise the difference and will record in .CDA format.

Yes, but I'm talking about the permitting of recording in digital audio format. As far as I no, ptr2 don't allow recording of digital audio format on normal data disks, wich is preserved for daisy recording. Are you saying its not true?
really any cd-r will work. you do not need any fancy made discs to record on to.

Hi, thank you so much, this do help indeed. So how did you got hold of those? I mean did you new what to look for when you bought it? Its a pity the ptr2 don't except digital audio format on a data disk, but I guess that these cd's also have advantages, as they should play much smoover on older cd players.

Hi Aidan,
I got my son to look over the audio discs that I have in the house and there doesn't appear to be a logo that would distinguish them as being specifically the kind of discs you are talking about.
The discs are Phillips discs and the text on the disc just says "CD-R Audio". On another section of the disc in roughly a square area it

I don't have the original box that they came in so can't check it for possible logos.
Hope this helps.

Ok, for those who no and use ptr2, I have an idea a little bit what to look for when it comes to music cd's, as they say, it must be a cd that is intended for primery use in a cd recorder or have an audio logo or something. The examples plextalk give on their site and the help I got in their emails didn't help me enough in this matter, could anyone give me more of a clear idea what to look for? What must be rittin on the packaging of such cd's? Ptr2 won't except recording of music cd format (digital audio) on a normal data cd, and I need to no what to look for in order to find the correct type of disk. I no that amazon also sold some of them, but that won't help me as i'm not in the US. Any ideas?
