NVDA OCR addon and vmware screens

Hello, Has anyone used the NVDA OCR addon to OCR a VMware screen? I've got a vm that I'm trying to boot which I'm sure is giving some error because it isn't working, I don't have sighted assistance so can't figure out what's up, and was thinking I might try the OCR addon on it. Has anyone done this? If so, I'd appreciate a procedure. Thanks. Dave.

Group Policy

I am starting to learn group policy at my school. I understand most of the concepts but get very confused when given instructions because what I'm told is there is not what I am seeing there exactly using jaws. Sometimes I have to click and other times I have to use the enter key and sometimes I just get taken out of the window completely. Any tips how others are navigating/using this? I am currently trying to learn on group policy management. HF

Outlook 2010 not sending mails

Hi all, This has been puzzling me since yesterday. I visited a person’s house to set up their emails in Outlook. I created 3 profiles to house each mail account, as this is the way they are used to it being set up on 2003. There are two BT accounts and one GMAIL account. All the accounts are using IMAP. No accounts are able to send mail, but can receive fine. I have checked Windows Firewall, and even turne dit off. I have removed AVG that another person installed in case for some odd reason this was blocking. I’ve verified that the BT settings match those found on, http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/44917/~/what-are-the-setting… I can confirm that the Outlook 2010 test in the email setup window completes by connecting to the outgoing server and sending a test mail. However, when we try and send an email to anyone the mails don’t’ go. I can confirm that another party outside of this scenario who shares the GMAIL mailbox can connect fine using Outlook 2010. I can also confirm that the BT IMAP accounts are sending and receiving mails and displaying the list of folders correctly on IOS. Is there something I could be missing? Any help greatly appreciated. NVDA remote with remote speech off but still usable

Hello, I'm not sure if the subject is not confusing, here's my situation. I've got a portable copy of NVDA packaged as a self-extracting .exe file. It's got the remote addon configured with it so that on clicking the nvda.exe program it connects up to the nvdaremote.com server and remotely I can connect. I've got two situations where I do not want this copy of NVDA to speak on the remote side, one is the user is sighted and does not need to hear the speech, whereas I need the output channeled to me remotely. The second is the user has another screen reader running and two copies of speech would be confusing, and again only I need to hear the NVDA remote speaking. Are these situations doable? Second, though unrelated, does anyone know how to set up a control server? I'd rather not have to go through nvdaremote.com but would like to set up a control server on a server I manage. Thanks. NVDA remote VS Window-Eyes or JAWS remote access in a datacenter environment

Hi all: I was wondering what the experiences here were using NVDA remote access as apposed to JAWS or Window-Eyes offering specifically in a datacenter environment managing remote servers. I have Window-Eyes set up on just under 200 servers, about 60 or so of which I access regularly and the others from time to time if ever (Window-Eyes is in our base image so its ready to go if needed.) With Window-Eyes, I know I can just RDP in, once a desktop comes up press ctrl+alt+w and am good to go. If I were to use NVDA in this same situation, I know it uses its own remote access protocol and not RDP, which is both good and bad, but was wondering what you have found the ideal setup for that is? Decent wireless headset.

Hello, Not strictly on topic for this list but in a round about way it is very relevant. I've just broken my lovely Zenhizer head set. I've had this for about three years. I use this headset for Jaws only. I've a few sound cards in this machine for various reasons. One is dedicated to Jaws speech. I'm looking for a new headset. Any recommendations? I had a wireless headset eight years ago. It lasted me about five years but I got sick of the battery constantly going down. I even bought two batteries for it but if I was working on something for a very long time and the battery went down and I kept working on the second battery, the first battery didn't have time to recharge before the battery in use went down. It would seem strange to some but sitting on a computer for up to 20 hours isn't an uncommon thing for me some days. That's the joy of working full time, keeping up with new technology and also keeping my own business going all at the same time. I would love it if this headset would also let me hear the phone as well. It's a Cisco VOIP phone. There's nothing as frustrating as trying to talk to someone with the handset pressed up to my ear with my shoulder and jaws talking on the other side. I currently have an incredibly cheap wired headset for the phone but the desk can get a bit crazy with wires all over the place. I'm of two minds to go with wireless or not. I gave up on it after a lot of years of frustration as I said eight years ago but maybe things have come a long way since then. Any suggestions?
