I had heard a lot about forefront client security lately so thought I'd give that a shot during the weekend. To my surprise, it doesn't support the environment I had in mind for it at all! I had hoped to install it on a virtual machine running Windows 2008 R2, SQL 2008 R2 and with a WSUS server hosted on another machine. I gave the system a reasonable spec. It has a 120GB hard drive, 4GB of ram and two processors at 2.3GHZ. It really doesn't like my ideas. It's still complaining that it only has one processor, It says there isn't enough hard disk space, It still looks for a SQL database. Mainly because according to the release notes it only supports SQL 2005 and finally it wants it's own WSUS server. Why would it have this dependency when there's a perfectly fine WSUS server running on the domain? This is a virtual machine running on ESX 4. If forefront isn't the best option what is? I want to learn about a decent server managed security suite. In work I administer Office scan but I'd like to see what else is available. I'm reasonably certain anything is going to be better than office scan. I'm also looking for a decent backup system. In the past I've administered Backup exec and I know that works quite well but again, I'd like to try something different. I have a technet subscription so ideally, I'd really like to know the Microsoft solutions for these problems. Any thought's? Thanks Darragh

xp and bluetooth

Hi, I've got a laptop with bluetooth. It's running xp. I'm trying to connect a bluetooth headset to it and the one time I got it to prompt me for a pairing password the dialog was gone in the systray before I could get to it. Has anyone got a way to get xp to get and pair to bluetooth headsets in the time needed? My one headset is made by Jabra never heard of that one, the other is a Motorola hs15. Thanks. Dave.

mysql gui

Do any of you happen to know of a MySQL interface that works in high contrast mode such as windows colors? I've tried MySQL workbench and MyDB Studio and they suck! More and more of the applications are stuck in a color scheme mae by the developer and it gets quite annoying. Thanks in advance. Also, I don't want to use PHPmyAdmin. Sound card drivers not reloading

Hi all, I have an interesting problem that I have not run across before. I am trying to get audio (sound) output from our Dell PE 840 running Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise. I have tried a myriad of USB sound cards all with the same result. If I plug in a sound card that I have never used before into the Dell it will start working and I can get Narrator to work fine. Now if I reboot the computer and try that same USB sound card it won't work again and never will. This is the same results as with all sound cards I have tried. I have heard something about Win 2k8 not allow the loading of non signed drivers at boot up. Is this true and how can it be fixed? If not does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do to make this work? I am really pulling my hair out on this one. Tia Frank

Hello, Is anyone using hotmail with jaws 11? If so, i've got a jaws friend who is having extreme difficulties getting hotmail's new UI to work right. It's heavily framed and on occation kicks her out when doing a bulk delete. I was wondering if there's a way to revert the latest hotmail update and return to a more speech friendly UI? Thanks. Server 2008 R2 and Exchange 2010

Have any of you had experience of installing and setting up Server 2008 R2 and Exchange 2010? I'm trying to set up a DELL PowerEdge server to install in a braille library in Africa, and I seem to be hitting one issue after another. While the Server part seems to be OK, Exchange is proving to be a real pain in the whatnot. For example after running the Exchange Best Practices Analyser, it told me that I had an "unrecognised Exchange signature". To add insult to injury, even though I have applied all known updates, to both Server and Exchange, Help on this did not include Exchange 2010. After ages hunting the internet, I find that this is actually a bug in the Analyser tool which will be resolved when SP1 is released later in the year. Even finding where to put the license key is clearly an issue which has defied many professionals it would seem! Server 2003 and Exchange at the office here were an absolute doodle and took me less that a day to set up, but this lot is really taking the biscuit!!
