text editor that handles multiple line edits

Hello, I'm not sure if the subject is entirely accurate, but i'm looking for a new Windows text editor something with notepad's speed but with multiple line editing, a mark ability or a search and replace. For example, I've got a document converted from a word doc, with the original source unavailable, that has headers and footers in it. I want to strip those out. I was thinking of marking text then deleting everything between the marks, or a multiple line search and replace. Suggestions for an editor welcome. Thanks. Dave. packaging virtual machines

Good morning list, I have a vm that was created using virtual server. Does anyone know if it is possible to package this machine up for distribution to other people. I realize that one could simply copy all of the files, but this seems rather a large bit of data. Thanks Rick

JFW 10.1 with 64-bit support

Hi, It looks like the new JFW 10.1 will support Windows Server 2008 64-bit. Anyone got any kit to try this on? My systems are all virtual and I don't have a remote desktop license. Thanks. Andrew.

backing up a running system

Hello, I've got a laptop running xp pro that i have to redo. It's that time. I've got an external terrabyte drive to back it up to. My problem is a product like ghost won't work as the drive is formatted NTFS and won't be read from the ghost CD. I need a product that works from a running windows or can reboot then work, and get all my files, i'll need also file selective restore. Thanks. Dave. microsoft virtual pc and adding a second hard disk

Good afternoon listers, I just found this list. I am currently working with Microsoft virtual pc 2007 and jaws. I have created a second virtual hard disk using the virtual disk wizard and set the second disk in my virtual machine to point to it. Why doesn't this disk show up under my computer. I have xp pro as the host and guest os. I am talking about showing up under the guest os. Thanks for any advice. Rick

ip kvm switches

Has anyone had any experience using ip kvm switch that also passes audio? I need to admin 2 servers from a different building. I am not impressed with using jaws and remote desktop. System access works most of the time, but version 3 doesn't play nice with 3rd party screen readers. I sometimes need to use the jaws cursor for some tasks, and the virtual mouse in system access is a joke. At the moment, i have a four port usb/audio switch on my desk witht he servers in the same room. In April, the servers are moving to a different building. The buildings are going to be connected using fiber. If necessary, I can have a cat 5 cable pulled too, if cat5 kvm would work. >From the little I was able to find, ip kvm switches seem to send back a bit map for the video. Any help will be appreciated. Phil

We bought it from dell, but I think it might be a belkin under the hood. It has 4 buttons on the front. I have my work station plugged into one port, and our 2 servers in 2 other ports. I use the fourth port when I need to work on a computer that someone brings me to reformat or do other maintenance on. The switch has the ability of being controlled from the keyboard, but I have never gotten that to work. I use a usb sound device on one server since it doesn't have any normal pci slots. the other machine had one pci slot, so I installed a turtle beach sound card. I have my speakers plugged into the kvm switch. it also supports microphone, but I have no need of that feature. hope this helps. hello members: please I'm a blind man from a development country. I'm from Egypt, I need a guide to be a system administrator. what I need to be study? courses? certification? how about accessibility in this field? I'm studying now in CAVI, in semester 2 in ITE and CCNA discovery. my dream to be professional in computer, and find a job in a place who not believe that blind can do such things. thanks. any help well be appreciated. ibraam.
