Hi Barry: How does PerfectTracker work other than the home screen? How easy is it to figure out what tickets need immediate attention, for example, a ticket you've been assigned that someone else added notes to since the last time you saw it? I have some sight, and know this actually works in text mode on the latest ESX CD, though not sure whether the screen is in graphics mode or not. One thing which puzzles me is that the Vmware installer opens up a text screen in Anaconda to ask whether the CD check should be done or not before starting an X session in the graphical installer, so if you don't see this, I am not sure it will work the way you want. Text mode installers in RedHat and Vmware are not as good as the graphics options, some defaults can sometimes get missed out and some screens don't appear in the text mode installer, and you loose the advanced partition editor in the text mode installer also. Kickstart is the best way to go, especially if you do a graphics install, then capture the Kickstart file in /root after the installation. There is a text mode installer equivalent to the Redhat installer, and I'm sure there's a way to make it active I just don't know what it is. Ironically I think the first graphical screen you get asks you if you want to go into text mode. For long term, your best bet is to get a Kickstart script up and running, but honestly, ESX won't be something you're installing on a daily basis. I'd refer you to http://www.vmware.com/support/pubs/vi_pubs.html They have online documentation for all of the VMWare Infrastructure family, including ESX, including an installation guide which should answer all your questions. Most of the documentation, including the install guide, is PDF. Its accessible PDF, but some of them are a little strange, such as having one word per line, but I've been able to get through them. It doesn't necessarily work with every kernel. So I'm thinking they turned it off when compiling their kernel because it doesn't work. Anybody know if it's possible to install vmware esx if you're blind? I have already tried modifying the boot CD to have a serial console and I've booted a normal CD with a PC Weasel card. In case you haven't heard of it, the weasel acts like a VGA card except that instead of VGA output it has a serial port. So you can use a null modem cable and a terminal emulator on another computer to get text output. I booted from a vmware esx installation CD and entered 'text' at the boot prompt to start a text install. But the weasel is still indicating that it is getting a command to go into graphics mode. Hi George. If Sage is slow on the server as well as the remote clients, is there any chance that there may be a corruption in one of the files making up the database, or the internal database needs compacting? Have you tried this with a blank totally new database, with some figures in? Have you tried doing a new install of Sage onto a clean desktop, forgetting the server, and working in this mode for a while? Andrew.

George. I'm trying to resolve some performance issues with our SAGE Line 50 accounting system. Having installed Microsoft's Process Monitor on my Vista Ultimate system, I can see that during something as mundane as an Invoice date sort, FAST IO DISALLOWED appears. There doesn't seem to be much practical advice around for determining what might turn FAST IO on or off. Some say it could be malware, others that it could be virus checkers and such like. (We do run McAfee here) FWIW, I'm running a Windows Enterprise Server 2003, a plain vanilla Windows Server 2003, one Vista Ultimate workstation, and the rest are XP workstations. Has anybody any thoughts, because I've already lost my part-time bookkeeper due his frustrations over performance? George.

Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Console

Guys, Has anyone tried using this with a screenreader? We're slowly rolling it out and I've just tried using the Admin Console. It's a Java app that just will not read at all with either Win Eyes v6.1 or Jaws 8. The title bar will read but it looks as if it's a transparent window to the screenreader. For example when you launch the application there's text fields that the screenreader doesn't' see at all. Keyboard commands appear to work in as much as tab, return etc. However, there's no speech feedback whatsoever. >From what little I know this product is a mix-mash of Symantec and Sygate and they're running on two different servers. Apache for Symantec's, and IIS for Sygate's firewall. It's not possible to log into either server using Putty or the Windows XP console. Comments? Barry. hello members: I've small home network in my home, using it to get DSL connection. we have Conexant router. this is its info: BootCode Version: BC_CX82xxx_4.1.0.21 Firmware Version: CX82xxx_4.1.0.21_S Customer Software Version: 4.1.0.21_ please I've some questions: 1. how can I know the computers that are online now on network? net view command now not working. also when I go to Entire Network, then press Microsoft windows network the computer not talk, and should use end now to be healthy again. why this option not working now? and how I fix this? 2. is there any way make me prevent any virus or spy move from the network to me? am not share any files or folder for anyone. thanks. ibraam.
