New Outlook on the Web and questions regarding NVDA and JAWS

Hi all, In light of recent projects, I've had the opportunity to try out Outlook on the Web. I find it works ... somewhat,, but I did notice a few unlabeled buttons. I find sending emails very difficult, and then trying to switch between portions of the interface very inconvenient at best, impossible at worst when frames don't let screen readers go. I'll be glad though to report that behavior from JAWS and NVDA are the same. What do you all say?

Outlook 2016 with new Exchange account has autodiscover configured as IMAP rather than MAPI, ,

Hey all, I'm wondering whether somebody ultimately goofed. We've got a new Exchange server up ... running 2016 with Outlook 2016. On premise, and with autodiscover configured. When I opt to use my credentials, it behaves and everything like an Exchange server normally does ... but when I look in my accounts it shows as IMAP rather than Exchange ... I have all of my inbox and what not folders under an Outlook folder with the name of my email address like normal, but then there is this other set of folders under that with an empty inbox and outbox, but a full contacts,, calendars, and notes folder, under the name "My Outlook Datafile (1)". I can send,, receive, add events to the calendar, add contacts to the server, and everything, but it's bothering me that I've got a split configuration. Thought Exchange used MAPI by default? I'm definitely suspecting somebody goofed since my off premise other email account using Office 365 (this one) doesn't do this. Thoughts would be great. We do have full AD implemented as well, though my workstation doesn't have a current connection to it since we're still messing with domain structures if that matters. Needless to say, this is driving me five kinds of bonkers.

with a super vario2 40 i cant get it work the only text the display show are "no screen" connected via bluetooth with usb the connection definitely not work

Windows PE with Narrator

Great news. I hope soon we have talking WinPE images containing all of tools for computer maintenance, similar to some Linux Distributions nowadays, and then the only thing missing will be for Microsoft to make possible for the Windows boot loader to beep at the boot prompt, similar to grub, to make easier for those who want to have more than one OS installed to choose what system to boot. Munki and Administering a Mac

Just wanted get feedback from folks around here about Munki and if anyone's had any experiences admin-ing macs. Good bad? Primarily Munki apparently is done via terminal. I'm somewhat new to using terminal on the mac and found it a bit clunky with Voiceover. Although I've just started so. Thanks all German

Active Directory Administrative Center.

Hello, Do any of you use the active directory administrative center much and if you do, are there any reasonably good keyboard shortcuts for it? It seems like a really nice interface. From time to time I come back to it from the standard MMC type layouts such as active directory users and computers etc. But every time I come back to it, it doesn't seem as efficient from the perspective of a keyboard user. There are just too many controls in the way. Let's say I find the list / treeview for browsing through OU's. When I find an OU that I need, it takes about 7 or 8 tab presses to get over to the list of items in that OU. Also, there are read only edit boxes after this that have some very interesting details but moving to them is very cumbersum as well. It might be the type of application that is perfect for scripting but I'd like to avoid that if possible as if it's something I'm going to use regularly, then I'd want to be able to use it from the domain controllers as well. I have a policy of little to no third party customizations on domain controllers. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks Darragh

Windows PE with Narrator

Hello everyone: The ISO images for the Windows 10 insider build with talking install have been posted. You can download them at this link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windowsinsiderpreviewadva… Note that you do need to be in the Windows Insiders program to access these images, membership is free with a valid copy of Windows. These ISOs are accessible regardless of if you are on the slow or fast ring. The instructions are below, please note that as you will be playing with the Windows installation process, I recommend not doing this on your primary machine unless you have a really really good backup. AKA, do this on a VM or a test machine if at all possible. a. Download the Windows 10 Media Creation tool from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 b. From that page, follow the instructions for creating bootable media to install Windows on another computer. You will need a USB drive at this point. This process will format the drive appropriately, download a copy of Windows 10 and put all the files on the USB drive. Note these are not the files you will ultimately use but this step gets your USB drive ready. c. When this process is done, open the USB drive in File Explorer and delete all the files. d. Now download the 15002 ISO file and open it in File Explorer. e. Copy all the files from the 15002 ISO you just opened to your USB drive. f. If you want to use a newer ISO down the road, just repeat steps C, D, and E here. That is, update your bootable media with newer files. g. If you want to use diskpart instead of the Media Creation tool to make the bootable USB with ISO, instead of steps a,b, & c above, the following commands will delete all files on the USB and make it bootable: i. Open the command prompt ii. Type: diskpart iii. Type: list disk iv. This will show all connected disks, their disk numbers, connection status and disk size v. Using the sizes, determine which disk is your USB drive and remember its disk number (i.e. Disk 2) vi. Type the following commands: (where X is the disk number of your USB drive) 1. sel dis X 2. clean 3. cre par pri 4. active 5. format fs=FAT32 Quick 6. exit h. Once the disk is formatted and prepared, you can copy the Windows installation files onto the disk from the ISO. 4. Install Windows a. Once your Computer is set to boot using the new drive and you have the USB bootable drive with the ISO image ready, insert the bootable USB drive and power on the PC. i. Ideally have a USB headset connected, although we've found Surface Pro speakers and onboard sound from several other computers will also work. b. Wait about 10-15 seconds and then press CTRL+Win+Enter to start Narrator. If you hear Narrator talking, you will be good to go. If you do not, try other USB audio hardware. To be clear, there are some configurations that will not work at this point. If you hit a point where audio won't work, power the PC off, remove the USB drive and power the PC back on. You should be back in your copy of Windows that was previously installed. c. Follow the questions and process for installing Windows. i. When you are asked to choose a partition, the best one to use will likely be selected by default. To read partition sizes, use Narrator table reading commands of CAPS+F3 and CAPS+F4. Caps+F3 will read a row cell by cell where you will hear the details about the selected partition. ii. Since you are likely installing on to a partition that has already had windows, you can pick between formatting the partition or not. If you do not format, you'll get a message about an existing copy of Windows already being present and saying that will be moved to Windows.old. You are not able to restore this but your files and such will be in there. Do not rely on this as a guarantee that you can get your files. iii. If you encounter something saying rich text, use Narrator's caps+m to read the text. iv. Pay close attention once the install starts. You'll hear a message about preparing installation repeated multiple times. You'll then hear a prompt talking about a restart. It is important you remove the USB drive at this point or you will start the entire process over. d. Wait about 30-60 seconds after the restart and press ctrl+win+enter again to start Narrator. You are now going through more of the typical setup. Note that this build 15002 also has a feature where you can try and use Cortana to answer some setup questions. You can try this out also.
