Hi Ryan, I was not aware that you can point Workstation at a CD (can it be a DVD?) and it will do an automated install of the OS. Does the ISO Image or CD have to have the unattended install file on it or can it just be the usual factory retail install CD. If I crate a VM in workstation on physical machine x, can I just move it over to physical machine y and have it work, like I can with VPC's .VHD files? What operating systems are supported for that automated install trick? Where can I find this documented? I the case of something like Microsoft's SBS if I pointed Workstation at the DVD how far into the instllation does it get? How would it know what the domain and local machine names should be? It's a really good product, and actually offers some features that would benefit a blind person. You can literly run through the new VM wizard, power on your VM, come back in a few minutes and have a working, with sound, virtual machine ready for screen reader installation. A very big deal in my book. If Workstation is still to expensive, give Player a look. Right now it will only read virtual machines made in Workstation, but my understanding is the next release will be more of a free Workstation light than just Player. Honestly on the whole I'm very pleased with VMWare's products. The VIC needs some work, but on a technical standpoint they're very sound. What about Hyper-V, how accessible is that for blind folks like us? That seems to be a much bigger buzz word around IT then VMWare right now? Is sound emulation still not available in Hype-V? Has anyone tried the free version from MS or the bundled version in Win 2008? Win 2k3 64 and screen readers

Hi all, I have inherited the responsibility of managing a Dell PE 2900 with Win 2k3. Since it has 8 gigs of memory I assume it is the 64 bit version of Win 2k3. Does anyone know what screen reader(s) I can get to work on it. Can the 64 bit version of JFW work in this scenario? Also on a related note if I have the service tag from the server is there anywhere on the Dell site where I can punch it in and find out just what equipment it was built with? Thanks Frank

Ryan, thanks. I haven't gotten my hands on the box yet so I am not sure. I know it wouldn't be Data center edition but Enterprise x86 ... hmm, maybe. It is an ex web server being demoted to file server duties. I will pretty much have carte blanche to manage it so I wonder if I cannot get a screen reader on it could I upgrade to Win2k8 Std 64 bit? Would there be drivers for that install? You'll need Vista or later because they only have a 64-bit mirror driver. Do you know what the server does, what software's installed on it, etc.? If the server is running Windows 2003 Enterprise or Datacenter, then even the 32-bit version will work with the 8GB of memory, I'm not entirely sure how or why that's possible, but I think the 32-bit version of Enterprise supports up to 12GB, and Datacenter supports up to 64GB. I'd need to do some research to find the exact numbers though. I know a lot of people stuck to the 32-bit version of 2003 due to compatability purposes, a lot of non Microsoft apps just didn't like 64-bit Windows back in the days of 2003.
