Hi all, Our current Call Manager 4.x servers are creaking under their age, and we are looking at replacing this either with a new Cisco telephony system or a completely new system altogether. The system has to use IP as the connection to the handsets, as we don't want to add in more cables. Has anyone any experience in deploying a new Call manager setup, or a similar telephony system, and how was the accessibility? Thanks. Andrew.

let's talk Backup Exec

Hey everyone: I just got a promotion at work, and with the goodness of a promotion comes more responsibilities. I'm now in charge of our backup infrastructure. We run Backup Exec 12.5, and have 16 or so media servers in various branch offices around the world. While Backup Exec used to be very accessible, over the last two versions accessibility seems to have gone into something of a decline, I already use scripts just to read the main table of jobs, and might need more just to get around the scheduling window so I can actually schedule a job. I'd consider the rest of the program accessible but clunky, tabbing doesn't always bring you where you think it will, on some screens tab order seems to be dynamic. Backup Exec also has an odd way of bringing up alert windows and grabbing your focus, even when you tell it specifically not to. While clunkyness is OK on one server, when you have fifteen individual servers to manage and no way to do it in a centralized fashion clunkyness is less acceptable. This is also less than a quarter of my new responsibilities as well. The current admin has the remote desktop console setup with all the Backup Exec servers in his favorites, stays logged into each server with a Backup Exec window open, and flicks from screen to screen and can easily glance at the output from each job. For us screen reader users, that doesn't work well. I've already got e-mail alerts set up and am using some Outlook rules to sort failure jobs out from successes, but was wondering if there's anything else I can be doing? I'd think people in really large environments with hundreds of media servers aren't logging into each server on a daily basis, so there has to be better ways to handle this. Any ideas? Thanks. Ryan

It has a 120GB hard drive, 4GB of ram and two processors at 2.3GHZ. It really doesn't like my ideas. It's still complaining that it only has one processor, It says there isn't enough hard disk space, It still looks for a SQL database. Mainly because according to the release notes it only supports SQL 2005 and finally it wants it's own WSUS server. Why would it have this dependency when there's a perfectly fine WSUS server running on the domain? This is a virtual machine running on ESX 4. If forefront isn't the best option what is? I want to learn about a decent server managed security suite. In work I administer Office scan but I'd like to see what else is available. I'm reasonably certain anything is going to be better than office scan. I'm also looking for a decent backup system. In the past I've administered Backup exec and I know that works quite well but again, I'd like to try something different. I have a technet subscription so ideally, I'd really like to know the Microsoft solutions for these problems. Any thought's? Thanks Darragh

xp and bluetooth

Hi, I've got a laptop with bluetooth. It's running xp. I'm trying to connect a bluetooth headset to it and the one time I got it to prompt me for a pairing password the dialog was gone in the systray before I could get to it. Has anyone got a way to get xp to get and pair to bluetooth headsets in the time needed? My one headset is made by Jabra never heard of that one, the other is a Motorola hs15. Thanks. Dave.

mysql gui

Do any of you happen to know of a MySQL interface that works in high contrast mode such as windows colors? I've tried MySQL workbench and MyDB Studio and they suck! More and more of the applications are stuck in a color scheme mae by the developer and it gets quite annoying. Thanks in advance. Also, I don't want to use PHPmyAdmin. Sound card drivers not reloading

Hi all, I have an interesting problem that I have not run across before. I am trying to get audio (sound) output from our Dell PE 840 running Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise. I have tried a myriad of USB sound cards all with the same result. If I plug in a sound card that I have never used before into the Dell it will start working and I can get Narrator to work fine. Now if I reboot the computer and try that same USB sound card it won't work again and never will. This is the same results as with all sound cards I have tried. I have heard something about Win 2k8 not allow the loading of non signed drivers at boot up. Is this true and how can it be fixed? If not does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do to make this work? I am really pulling my hair out on this one. Tia Frank
