VPN and MikroTik Equipment

Hi Guys, I am a bit rusty in my VPN skills. I have a new project that I am working on. I have 2 commercial grade Mikrotik routers and I am wanting to start the process of building a VPN between several radio tower sites I have. I know I can do this by creating tunnels that would have different subnets for each site. In this case I need everything to be on the same subnet because the software using this nework will need to send broadcast messages to other units on the nework for 2way radio communications. Can you guys recommend the right path to follow to do this? Currently, I don't have time to learn their command line but I am good with their interface. Thanks in advance, Billy

Best way to handle international connectivity for VPNs

Hey all, This is more of an IT/legal question rather than an accessibility question. I've got a few sites that are joined up together by VPN, and I'm trying to add another connection from a South african IP; my friend there says that she is not in control of her network equipment and that she is not allowed to make changes. She states that it's more an issue with government policy rather than anything related to the ISP itself; now how ISPs and government have anything to do with one another is quite a confusing concept to me being from the US where the tech is in control. I was hoping that I might be able to get some international awareness from someone here; I'd rather her join our project without upsetting anybody who could actually do something about us. I am fine if it has to be a client-side VPN connection for her; though if she can't open a port, which she says that she can't, I'm not sure what the hell to do in that case. Advice and education on this matter would be very much appreciated. Note also that there aren't many techs in her living situation; she is one of those people who is nervous by any sorts of changes that take place.

Greetings, I am new to this list. I found it by searching for accessibility information on using Team Viewer 12 with Jaws 18, my primary screen reader, or NVDA, which I am just now learning. My questions are these... 1. I want to access my desktop pc with my laptop at any time without having to enter a different code all the time. With this, I want to be able to hear the desktop Jaws thru my laptop much like JFW Tandom. 2. How can I control another pc that uses a different screen reader than Jaws or no screen reader at all? Is this possible? -- Teddy

Access to vmware ESX 5.5 (both gui and VM guest console)

Hi all, I recently joined the list, as I came across it while researching the above subject. I am a Linux system administrator in the UK, and contract out my services to various companies. A few places I have worked in predominantly use virtual machines for their servers, via vmware ESX 5.5. I have found access to both the GUI of vmware ESX (which is done via a web interface which uses inaccessible flash) and Virtual machine consoles themselves, to be nearly impossible to use with a screen reader (have tried both JAWS and NVDA). Supposedly, vmware ESX 6.0 has improved the accessibility of its web interface, but I haven't come across a company who uses ESX 6.0 yet, and the ones that I have worked for that use 5.5 have been reluctant to upgrade because of the perceived risk, virtual machine migration and so on. I have tried using the virtual console on Linux machines and network serial port access on vmware ESX (which I had to get sighted colleagues to setup), but this caused issues for sighted people who then wanted to use machines via the main vmware guest console. This meant that I had to enable serial port access when initially setting up a machine (via kickstart), and then disable the serial port once I had done the setup, both these tasks requiring sighted assistance. Have any of you had experience with using Vmware guest consoles / the vmware ESX 5.5 GUI with a screen reader? I have used vmware workstation and vmware player at home several times to run my own virtual machines, but I was able to access most machines via ssh and telnet. At the compaies I have worked at, ssh/telnet access is blocked for initial kicking of a machine, and is only available once machine configuration is complete. I have also explored using powershell and ruby esx interfaces to ESX via the command line, but these do not allow booting a machine via PXE for example, which is required for initial machine setup using kick start over a network. Looking for an accessible NAS

Hi all, I am new to this list because i just found out that this list exists. I am Simon Eigeldinger from Austria. I work in the IT business for a year now in our town hall. We have some NAS around from 2 manufacturers. 4 newer boxes from QNAP which aren't much accessible on the web interface. and 2 old buffalo terrastations which are pretty old but still work which are more accessible because of the old web interface. I also had a look at the synology web interface which can be checked out on their website. I kind of liked their interface and since DSM 6.0 i read it is more accessible and pretty well useable with a screen reader. What do you think? dd-wrt, or tomato USB

Hello, Does anyone have experiences with alternative router firmwares? I've got an Asus RT-N66U and am wanting to put something other than stock or as it stands now the merlin firmware on it. I'm not liking the accessibility. OpenWRT had me until I saw that it's 2.4ghz was weak and 5ghz was unrecognized, for me that kind of defeats the purpose. I suppose my choices are down to Tomato USB or DD-WRT, both of which are supported by my device, but the DD-WRT installation fills me with apprehension. If anyone has experience with either Tomato USB or dd-wrt or has another suggestion please let me know. Thanks. Dave.

Which text editor do yu recommend?

Hello, I'm writing and editing some PHP codes and translating some files to an other language by using Notepad++ to open files; however sometimes Jaws does not read lines in Notepad++ correctly. It is jumping lines and not reading acuratly. Do you have any recommendation for accessible and UTF-8 compatible text editör? I heard some accessible text editors in the past but can't remember now it's names. Don't want to use Windows Notepad Smile. Thanks for your answers from now, regards.
