Terminal copy/paste functions in Windows Subsystem for Linux

I am running WSL version 2 under Windows 10 version 2004, with all Windows updates applied. Is there a keyboard-based approach to copying/pasting text from/to the terminal, either using the default Windows console, or Windows Terminal? Windows Terminal appears to be accessible via NVDA at the moment, but not yet with JAWS, based on my testing with both screen readers.

hello dears please, how I could access sighted person pc for remote support? he doesn't have screen-reader, also worried that might not able to install nvda, could run it portable? is any portable copy of nvda for remote support which less size and configured only for this purpose? he has any-disk installed, and may be team viewer many thanks

i playing around with this app and yes you can connect to a windows server and do things if you have nvda started. but you cant contorl nvda.. anyone have the same issue?

Trend Micro Apex One inaccessible after the last update?

Hi all, Is anyone over here also using Trend Micro Apex One? Yesterday we updated Apex One to its latest version. It seems they made the interface inaccessible. They still use the old Internet Explorer component to display most parts of their GUI but it seems its not focusable anymore using NVDA 2020.2. Object navigation just shows empty windows. Call for testing: vast performance and stability improvements in command consoles for NVDA users

Hi blind-sysadmins, Microsoft has been doing a lot of really great work on UI Automation (UIA) in Windows Console (command prompt, PowerShell, and the Windows Subsystem for Linux). UIA vastly improves performance and stability in console, but some issues prevented it from becoming default in NVDA 2019.3. Many of the bugs in UIA have been fixed, and I'm hoping it'll be good enough to be default for the Windows 10 21H1 update to be released in the first half of 2021! However, it's important that all serious bugs are resolved before UIA becomes the default. The deadline for fixes to make it into the next Windows update is 30 October 2020. I'd really appreciate it if people tested this build <https://codeofdusk.com/conhost20200928.zip> (extract the zip and run OpenConsole.exe) of the Windows Console with "use UI Automation to access Windows Console" enabled in NVDA's advanced settings and reported any issues to me. Alternatively, you can file issues on the microsoft/terminal GitHub repo (which also is used for Windows Console). If you file issues with Microsoft, please provide a test case for them to run in the NVDA Python console (see this issue <https://github.com/microsoft/terminal/issues/7742> as an example) and CC @carlos-zamora. If you need help generating a test case, please let me know. To aid in testing, you can replace the Windows default console with OpenConsole. Change the owner of %systemroot%\system32\conhost.exe to yourself (in security properties), then grant you or the administrators group full control of the file. Rename conhost.exe to conhost.exe.orig, paste in OpenConsole.exe into the folder, and rename it to conhost.exe. If you've done it correctly, running nav.is21H1Plus in the Python console (NVDA+control+z) started from cmd should return True! To switch back to your original console, just rename conhost.exe to something else, and rename conhost.exe.orig back to conhost.exe. Thanks, Bill

Virtualbox tip

I just discovered that gocr works a lot better than tesseract at recognizing text in a Virtualbox screen capture. If you're running a Virtualbox virtual machine, there's a command to take a screen cap. That generates a png file. You can run gocr on that to see what the screen on the virtual machine says. Endpoint configuration manager

Hi all, I've recently been given access to our configuration manager console, in preparation for some training on managing and updating apps e.g. adobe reader etc. Does anyone have any tips on using it successfully with a screenreader? I use JFW 2020 primarily, however I also have NVDA installed. My main issue seems to be reliably accessing the ribbon, and that I can't seem to read the list of device collections a device is a part of. Cheers, Kieran.
