every vps provider i have used seems to have a crapy web based vnc based console that consoel dont work at all i allways get: canvas not supported tryed both chrome and firefox what the h.. is this canvas annyway?

WSUS: Update views keep disapearing after server restarts

Hi all, How do you all interact with WSUS? I at the moment use the MMC. I have a problem with it though. After server restarts i loose my configured update views. when i just log out and the server doesn't get restarted it is fine and the views keep staying there. Hello, Just a note to anyone looking at implementing two factor authentication for their organization, The duo administration website is fully accessible. I don't know if this is something they set out to do but I have had absolutely no problems fully configuring complex policies and applications using Duo. Also their documentation is nicely formatted and is generally written very clearly. So, if you're considering 2FA or MFA, from an accessibility perspective, I think Duo deserves some consideration. accessible linux rescue image

Hello, What is everyone using for Linux accessible rescue images? I've got a machine I'm needing to do some checking/troubleshooting on and was wondering what is currently available? I found grml and Knoppix, my initial goal is Cli-based, but if I can go graphical and have accessibility there as well that would be great! Thanks. Dave.

How does it compare with running a typical device that supports OpenWRT? My current router at home is a Linksys WRT1900AC, running the current OpenWRT release. It's old enough to support 802.11ac, but not the newer Phase II features. I don't need mesh, so I haven't investigated the OpenWRT mesh networking support. There is of course newer hardware available from various vendors. I don't plan to upgrade until 802.11ax is supported though. The Web interface of OpenWRT is relatively accessible with a screen reader, and one can access a shell via ssh to edit configuration files or to issue Linux commands. There is also a variety of optional packages available for installation, so if you need a Radius server, or IPSec, or Samba, or any of a number of other capabilities, they're obtainable. One disadvantage of OpenWRT, in my view, is that the operating system is not packaged as a typical Linux distribution would be. You have to upgrade the entire image as a unit, taking care to preserve your optional packages and customizations, although this is better automated in the current version. Hello, I'm going to be getting a mesh system for my home and want to hear from those who have them. After researching and talking to friends I'm thinking either the Asus ZenWiFi or the Netgear Orbi both AC3000 (I don't have anything AX currently) and both Tri-Band, but I'm wanting to hear others recommendations and experiences. If you've tried one or both please let me know your impressions. I am also interested in any of these systems phone apps and how accessible they are if I would need to do setup on them either locally or when I'm out needing to change something. For reference to this question i'm using a windows10 laptop, a win10 surface pro tablet, and an android I think it's 8 phone and an android 9 tablet, so that's what any apps would have to run on. Is there anything interesting/relevant in the logs of the affected client systems? If the NAS has logs, I would check those too. NFS mount and permissions on a Synology NAS

Hello All, Short story: I have a Synology NAS that has a NFS volume/path exported I have a couple of Raspberry PIs that can mount the NFS volume and read/write with no issues I have a brand new Raspberry PI 4 and an older Debian (stretch) install that mounts the NFS volume, but gets a permissions denied when trying to list the contents of the volume. Logged on as pi, sudo mkdir /mnt/syn sudo mount <NAS>:/volume1/nfs /mnt/syn ls -l /mnt d--------- 1 root root 268 Oct 13 14:24 syn is the result I get after mounting, if I were to unmount the volume (and these are the same values before mounting), I get the following from the ls -l command: drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Oct 13 14:02 syn As I see it, the chmod permission are changing when mounting the NFS volume. The strangest part to me is that it works on 2 other Raspberry PIs. I hope someone has some ideas I can try. Tim
