Re: [Blind-sysadmins] ip kvm switches

Hi. So are the servers close to your desk, they aren't in another room? Thanks. Andrew. --- original message --- From: "Philip" <phall-eml2(a)earthlink.net> Subject: Re: [Blind-sysadmins] ip kvm switches Date: 7th March 2009 Time: 2:20:30 pm HI. Thanks for the info. unfortunately, I am not very proficient using window eyes as of yet. What I use currently is a 4 port usb plus audio kvm. We bought it from dell, but I think it might be a belkin under the hood. It has 4 buttons on the front. I have my work station plugged into one port, and our 2 servers in 2 other ports. I use the fourth port when I need to work on a computer that someone brings me to reformat or do other maintenance on. The switch has the ability of being controlled from the keyboard, but I have never gotten that to work. I use a usb sound device on one server since it doesn't have any normal pci slots. the other machine had one pci slot, so I installed a turtle beach sound card. I have my speakers plugged into the kvm switch. it also supports microphone, but I have no need of that feature. hope this helps. HP Smart Media Server and WindowEyes
by Andrew Hodgson 24 Feb '09

Hi, A friend has just got one of these headless Windows Home servers, and wants me to install WindowEyes to it. Does this work? I had problems installing WindowEyes to my systems when using RDP to do the initial installation, is there a way round this? I seem to remember someone had one of these devices on this list. Thanks. Andrew.

Re: [Blind-sysadmins] IAVICP Board of Directors

Is this group taking membership as of yet? Frank Ventura -----Original Message----- From: blind-sysadmins-bounces(a)lists.hodgsonfamily.org [mailto:blind-sysadmins-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Bill Gallik Sent: Sunday, January 25, 2009 7:44 PM To: Blind sysadmins list Subject: Re: [Blind-sysadmins] IAVICP Board of Directors Hi John, I am a (prematurely) retired software engineer who worked for 20 years for Bell Labs out of Naperville, IL. I now live in Superior, Wisconsin and am trying with very little success to find another computer related job. I would be quite interested in this group as well as possibly serving as a board member. ---*---*---*---*---*--- Sincerely, Bill Gallik E-Mail: BillGallik(a)centurytel.net No matter how much you push the envelope, it'll still be stationery. ----- Original Message ----- From: "John G. Heim" <jheim(a)math.wisc.edu> To: "Blind sysadmins list" <blind-sysadmins(a)lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Sunday, January 25, 2009 1:48 PM Subject: [Blind-sysadmins] IAVICP Board of Directors All, After my latest call for opinions on forming a group for visually impaired computer professionals, I got a little bit more interest. So we have decided to proceed with formation of this organization. The purpose of the organization is threefold: 1. To serve as a source for information on adaptive techniques for visually impaired computer professionals. 2. To serve as a source for social networking for visually impaired computer professionals. 3. To serve as an advocate for visually impaired professionals. The first thing we need to do is form a board of directors. Anyone interested in serving on the board should email me at jheim(a)math.wisc.edu as soon as possible. You need not be an American to be on the board of directors. In fact, international interest is welcome. I have already contacted a lawyer about getting tax exempt status in the United States. We need to have a board of directors to get tax exempt status. We already have enough people to legally create a board of directors but I was hoping for 2 or 3 more people to bring the total to 5 or 6. _______________________________________________ Blind-sysadmins mailing list Blind-sysadmins(a)lists.hodgsonfamily.org http://lists.hodgsonfamily.org/mailman/listinfo/blind-sysadmins _______________________________________________ Blind-sysadmins mailing list Blind-sysadmins(a)lists.hodgsonfamily.org http://lists.hodgsonfamily.org/mailman/listinfo/blind-sysadmins No virus found in this incoming message. Hello, How accessible is true image with screen readers? And how usable is it, both for standard backups, as in backing up a machine, and doing bear metal restores independently of assistance. Thanks. Dave. David Mehler (MCP,Network+,A+) dave.mehler(a)gmail.com
